Surprisingly, each card was the first from that particular set I now own. I could have sworn I had more of the Topps Cereal cards, but I guess I confused them with another food brand that had that same design look to it (like the Quaker Chewy!)
Favorite Card: The black and white Williams photo surrounded by a very red and yellow border is just too much for Jim Ed and Wade.
Thanks for the cards Jon!

So, I guess we get to see what happens when the American people have to go a month without sports! It's crazy, I was getting pumped about the start of the baseball season too. The funny thing is, the past few years I've been going down to Florida towards the end of March to take in the sight and sounds of Spring Training. We decided to skip this year due to a significant life event (Long story short: My wife and I are taking care of our almost 3-month old niece.) Turns out I wouldn't have been able to go anyway! Unfortunately my Plan B is also cancelled - I was set to attend my first Opening Day at the Oriole's beautiful Camden Yards! Oh well, better to be safe than sorry (especially when you have a newborn in the house!)
Stay healthy everyone!
The "Topps Cereal Series" is a parallel set to a Ralston Purina set, so maybe that's what you were confusing with it? They had the Purina set in their cereals, and they made the "cereal series" to put in generic versions of the cereal (the store brands), although in the end they scrapped that plan and just put them in the branded cereal.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure you're right. I have a couple of the Ralston Purina ones.
DeleteI got that Ted Williams card in a candy bar in 1987 (1988?). I got several others at the time - there was a set of current stars in color and of former stars moslty in B/W. I don't think I've gotten a new one since, especially from the retired players set.
ReplyDeleteThat Williams is sweet! Had no idea that they actually came inside packages of candy bars. That makes them a tad bit sweeter.
DeleteIt's probably best I missed the candy/card combo era. Nestle isn't my first choice. But served with crackboard??? Jon had some great cards to choose from! Be well!!!
ReplyDeleteAwesomeness! Congrats on getting some great cards from a great fellow blogger!
ReplyDeleteHopefully there's nothing too seriously wrong with your niece's parents? Either way though, it's pretty awesome of you and your wife to take her in.
ReplyDeleteThanks, let's just say addictions suck and her parents need to make better choices in life.
