Valley League Alum In The Majors (2024) - Addendum

Boy did I miss the mark! Last Friday, I did a post of former Shenandoah Valley Baseball League players who have played in the Majors this year. I based that information off of the SVBL web site as well as a blog/Facebook page that a dedicated fan runs called All Things Valley League. Unfortunately the information can be a little outdated (the SVBL web site's list of alum hasn't been updated since 2022!) Wouldn't you know it though, later on the very same day as my post went live, the All Things Valley League site put out a post of their own with all of the players currently in MLB. It turns out I missed quite a few players from my post:

Justin Anderson, White Sox

(Front Royal Cardinals 2013)

2019 Topps Heritage
#294 Justin Anderson

I could be forgiven for missing on Anderson. He last pitched in the Majors in 2019! After 5 years, he's made his way back!

Jonathan Bowlan, Royals

(New Market Rebels 2016)

2024 Topps #399 Jonathan Bowlan (RC)

Bowlan has played in just a single game this year, a spot start for the Royals on April 29th. Still counts though!

Kevin Herget, Brewers

(Strasburg Express 2012)

2022 Choice Charleston
Dirty Birds (2nd Half)
#NNO Kevin Herget

Herget is on his 3rd team in 3 years, currently riding that shuttle between AAA and the Majors as a relief depth option for Milwaukee.

Kyle McCann, Athletics

(Harrisonburg Turks 2019)

2023 Choice Las Vegas Aviators
#13 Kyle McCann

McCann made his Major League debut this year (on my birthday no less), and is currently the A's backup catcher.

Kyle Nicolas, Pirates

(Charlottesville Tom Sox 2018)

2024 Topps #408 Kyle Nicolas (RC)

It's a good thing Series 2 came out recently. Nicolas is one of three guys here that earned cardboard in the set!

Carson Spiers, Reds

(Charlottesville Tom Sox 2017)

2024 Topps #365 Carson Spiers (RC)

Spiers would be the last of the three! He's also the 3rd Cincinati Red on the list, along with Graham Ashcraft and Emilio Pagan.

Not only did I miss these players, but as it turns out another former alum actually made his debut recently!

Carlos Rodriguez, Brewers

(Charlottesville Tom Sox 2021)

2023 Choice Biloxi Shuckers
#5 Carlos F. Rodriguez

Rodriguez only played a single game in the Valley League before being drafted by the Brewers. He made his Major League debut on June 11th.

That makes 21 former Valley League players so far this year - not too shabby!
