Stephenson made his MLB debut as a pinch-hitter on July 26, 2020. He hit the second pitch he saw for a home run, becoming the 3rd Cincinati Red to hit one in his first plate appearance, and the first since Ted Tappe in 1950.
I remember being amazed when Will Clark accomplished that feat back in the mid 80's. Terry Steinbach did it too. Years later, I remember Adam Wainwright did it against the Giants... on the very first pitch. Such a cool thing to crank out a home run in your first at-bat. All of these guys have such a cool story to tell their children and grandchildren.
