Dibble was suspended 3 separate times in 1991 - once for throwing behind a batter, once for throwing a ball into the stands and hitting a fan, and once for throwing a ball in the back of a opponent who had bunted and was running to first base. The following year, he wrestled with manager Lou Pinella during an argument over his health. Dibble's knack for getting himself in trouble has carried over into his broadcasting career as well.
My friend worked at Best Buy in Connecticut for a while and sold Dibble a big screen TV. He is definitely a character.
ReplyDeleteBack in the '90s, the Giants were strongly rumored to be moving to St. Petersburg, Florida. I attended what was possibly their last game in SF and saw Dibble get the Save for the Reds.
