First game in Majors
Scored game-winning run in ninth
Caused Martin tirade
Felder made his Major League debut on September 11, 1985 against the New York Yankees (who were riding an 11-gmae winning streak). With the score tied at 3, Felder was brought in to pitch-hit to lead off the 9th inning. He singled, and another single and ground-out put Felder on 3rd base. Cecil Cooper then hit a ball down the left field line, which dropped and allowed the speedy Felder to score easily. Felder remembers watching Yankees manager Billy Martin argue with the ump about the ball being foul, a typical Billy tirade that even had him kicking dirt on the umpire!
