Maybe Yordan Alvarez will become a superstar. Maybe he'll rack up awards and All-Star appearances. Perhaps he'll become an all-time great and earn induction to the hallowed Hall of Fame.
Maybe, just maybe, his rookie card reaches the financial stratosphere of a Mike Trout.
Maybe then I'll look back at this trade and wonder if it was the right call. For now, I had an extra of his 2020 Topps base card, and was glad to send it to a TCDB member named Billy. In return, he crossed off a lot of current Red Sox needs:
Just look at all that! Stat Leaders (including the famous Hanley Ramirez error), the amazing acrobatics of JBJ, a couple of Boston legends, and hedges as far as the eye can see. Billy hooked me up!
