Traded to Red Sox
For light-hitting third baseman
Stuck behind Wade Boggs
The Red Sox acquired Andersen for the 1990 playoff push. In exchange for 1 month of the soon to be free agent, the Red Sox gave up a guy in the lower levels of their minor league system who hit 6 home runs over two seasons. The budding third baseman was expendable because in addition to having future Hall of Famer Wade Boggs, they also had a future two-time All-Star third baseman named Scott Cooper in the upper minors. From what I understand, that trade worked out well for the Astros. I wonder what became of Jeff Bagwell...
Source: Every Red Sox fan knows of this trade *sigh*
At least the Twins aren't the only team to give away a future hall of famer. LOL
ReplyDeleteI wasn't expecting that twist at the end!
