Fun-loving backstop
Would sit next to big play guys
To get on T.V.
1992 Topps #677 John Marzano |
The backup catcher was known as one of those "character" guys that joked around and kept the clubhouse loose. Among his antics was rushing to sit next to a teammate in the dugout after they hit a home run or made a great play, just so he could get on TV too. Sadly, he died from a tragic accident at the young age of 45.

Didn't know that about him, or that he died so young.
ReplyDeleteDon't really have any personal memories of Marzano outside of him having a 1985 Topps Team USA card. Sad that he passed away so young.
ReplyDeleteAfter his playing career, he was a sports broadcaster for Comcast in Philly.
ReplyDeleteSports need more guys like him.
