Gordon was the "Player To Be Named Later" in a 1987 trade where Cleveland sent future Hall of Famer Phil Niekro to Toronto. Niekro was 48 years old at then time and would only appear in 4 more games.

I haven't looked at Don's numbers, but getting traded for a guy who only played four more games sounds even worse than getting traded for a 48 year-old. Toronto must not have had much faith in his future potential.
