Repack Haiku #359 (Dimitri Young)

To help charity
Sold rookie card collection
All graded mint 10!

2002 Upper Deck Ovation
#19 Dimitri Young

Young was once offered $2000 to attend a card show, but when he saw a PSA 8 graded Pete Rose rookie card, he asked for that instead. That started him down the road to collecting graded cards, and his focus became PSA 10 graded rookie cards. To fund a baseball school and non-profit organization, he auctioned off about 500 cards along with some other memorabilia. The auction raised over $2.4 million dollars, with a mint 1955 Topps Roberto Clemente fetching a record $432,690.

  2. I'd love to one day own one of the Dimitri Young young slabs. That collection was truly unbelievable.

  3. Having MLB money probably helped building such a collection quite a bit.
