In season's last game
Made last out of no-hitter
With great diving catch
2017 Topps - All-Star Game 2017 #10 Steven Souza Jr. |
On the last day of the 2014 season, pitcher Jordan Zimmerman was one out away from the first no-hitter in the history of the Washington Nationals. With a nerve-wracking 1-0 lead, Zimmerman threw his pitch to Marlins' hitter Christian Yelich. Yelich hit the ball deep to the outfield...
Wow! What a great moment for him, Zimmerman, the team, and the fans. Definitely worthy of a haiku.
ReplyDeleteCool.
ReplyDeleteWhat a catch! Zimmerman owes him big-time!
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome catch! Hope Zimmerman took him out to dinner or something.
ReplyDeleteSouza won the International League MVP in 2014 with a very Ted Williams-esque season. He hit .350 with a .600 slugging percentage, lots of power and stolen bases too. Always been a big fan, enjoyed the haiku.
