A Trade Between Bloggers: Johnny's Trading Spot

Way back in August, Johnny from Johnny's Trading Spot restarted his "Trade Me Tuesdays", where every week he would show of numerous autos and relics for trade. He went alphabetically by team each week. Of course I awaited the Red Sox portion of the series, and was not disappointed. Johnny and I worked out an easy little trade, and I received 5 cards from him:

2 Stadium Club autographs

If you knew that both of these guys represented Boston at an All-Star game, then you're probably a Red Sox fanatic. Steven Wright was a knuckle-ball pitcher who was one of 6 Red Sox players to make the 2016 All-Star team, although he didn't get into the game. After that, his career fell completely off the cliff: torn cartilage in his knee wiped out most of his 2017 season, and he followed that with a suspension for domestic violence, another suspension for PED usage, and Tommy John surgery.  Matt Barnes was Boston's first round draft pick in 2011, a draft that also netted the Red Sox Mookie Betts and Jackie Bradley Jr. He made the All-Star team in 2021.

Josh Beckett quad-relic

This is a red parallel serial numbered to 75. Beckett of course was on two of the biggest Red Sox trades in the past 20 years. First, he came to Boston with Mike Lowell in a trade with the Marlins for Hanley Ramirez. He pitched well for Boston, helping the team win a World Series in 2007. He was then shipped to the Dodgers in the famous "Nick Punto" trade that cleared a sizable chunk off Boston's payroll.

Koji Uehara All-Star relic

When Koji joined the Red Sox for the 2013 season, he wasn't the closer. When closer Andrew Bailey (now the Red Sox pitching coach) was lost for the year, Koji still wasn't the man tabbed to replace him (that went to Joel Hanranhan, who also got injured). Third time was a charm, as Koji was lights out for Boston, at one point retiring 37 consecutive batters. I was eager to get this swatch from his lone All-Star appearance!

Autographed Dwight Evans mini

Out of all the great Red Sox cards Johnny had available, this one was the main one that caught my eye that I knew I had to trade for. This card is from the 1986 Topps League Leaders Mini set, and showcases the legendary fan favorite Dwight Evans. Count me in the camp of people who feel he should be in the Hall Of Fame!

Thanks for the great trade Johnny!
