Helms was Omar Vizquel's Bench coach when he managed the Birmingham Barons in 2019. A Lawsuit against Vizquel has since been filed by a former bat boy, accusing him of pretty disgusting behavior. In the lawsuit, Helms is one of the named staff members who allegedly mocked the bat boy (who is autistic) while this all played out. After Vizquel was fired, Helms took over as the Barons manager, but was placed on indefinite leave last year (i.e. fired).
Wow. Won't ever look at Omar the same again. Such a sad story. I'm embarrassed for both of these guys.
