TCDB Trade Recap: Cards From Charleston, IL

Today's trade comes from TCDB member Chad, who helped me with some newer Red Sox needs:
I never saw any of last year's Archives locally for sale, nor Heritage from this year. The League Leaders card leaves me with just 3 more Red Sox cards from this years Topps set to acquire (1 is on the way too!)

Favorite Card: The Vazquez postseason card was one of my Top 10 Red Sox Cards for 2022, so I'm glad to have it finally in the fold!

Thanks for the trade, Chad!

Trapped In Time: Remnants Of The 38th Trade

Just a single card on the chopping block today. This card comes from Eric of the now defunct Old Red Sox Cards blog (I believe he's still around on other media platforms.) Out of the 5 Twins cards he sent me, only one remains.
Trade #38 (Eric: Old Red Sox Cards)
Traded 07/12/19: 1970 Topps (football) #135 Paul Warfield, 1970-71 Topps (basketball) #16 Bob Weiss, 1971 Topps #290 Tony Oliva, 1971 Topps #385 Maury Wills

Received 07/13/19:
  • 1970 Topps #47 Bob Miller
  • 1968 Topps #44 Frank Kostro (See Trade #124)
  • 1968 Topps #181 Jerry Zimmerman (See Trade #124)
  • 1967 Topps #15 Earl Battey (See Trade #43)
  • 1967 Topps #366 Andy Kosco (See Trade #136)
Re-reading my write up that this trade was featured in reminded me of a little quirk with this card. I had a traded a copy of this card in the trade prior, only to receive another copy so shortly after! As of today, I now have two copies of this card in the stack, making it twice as unlikely that someone will trade for it now.

Miller is pictured slightly off-center. I can only assume the reason is to show off that house in the background, not that anyone wants to see Bob or his teammates...

Same rules as always! he's yours for an older card in return. Otherwise, he ends up in my collection as a double no less!

Repack Haiku #316 (Mike Moore)

Eighty-nine was huge:
Won World Series ring with A's,
Placed third in Cy Young
1987 Topps #727 Mike Moore
1989 was a highlight year for Mike Moore. He went 19-11, played in his only All-Star Game, and finished third for Cy Young Award behind winner Bret Saberhagen and teammate Dave Stewart. He also earned a Championship ring as the A's swept the Giants in the World Series.

Time Travel Trading Update #79

This is unusual. Only three of six trades have come in so far, do to various delays. What's more, there are no really big trades to show off. All of these trades have fit in a standard size PWE. This will be one of the shortest updates I've had in awhile! Still, there's some good cards to be had, so let's see what we got!
We'll kick things with Greg (Night Owl Cards), who picked up a couple of rainy day cards. He gifted me some Hall of Famers and food product oddballs:

Our next trade comes from a TCDB member named Tom, who found a page full of Chicago players to his liking. I traded those for a package heavy on 1988 Fleer:
It's been awhile since I've traded with Brendan (The View From The Third Floor). He proposed a trade through the TCDB as well, and these six are his latest contributions. I'm not one for basketball cards, but the action on these two are top-notch!

We'll wrap things up with a personal swap. I grabbed some cards I wanted from the stack, and have added these in their place:

I expect those 3 pending trades to be in for next time, so hopefully we'll have a good sized update for next month. My eternal thanks to all my amazing trade partners!
As always, these cards are all available in exchange for an older card. You can claim your cards below, or through the TCDB (Kep75). Let's make some trades!

The Time Travel Trading Project is simple in concept. I started out with a random pack of 2018 Topps Series 1 baseball cards. My aim was to trade every card in that pack for something older. Each card I receive in turn is then made available for trade, with the goal to get the oldest card I can get.

Number of trades completed: 259
Unique trading partners: 71

Number of cards mailed out: 1,415
Year of oldest card mailed out: 1910-11

Number of cards received: 2,097
Year of oldest card received: 1890
