Trapped In Time: Remnants Of The 106th, 109th And 110th Trades

Another round of cards on the chopping block! Since the next two trades on the list only had one card apiece, I decided to once again include a third trade. In doing so, I inadvertently did something I never would have guessed. You'll have to read on to find out what!

Trade #106 Jim (Cards As I See Them)
Traded 06/23/21:  1956 Topps #274 Frank Baumholtz

Received 07/02/21:
  • 1953 Topps #101 Ted Wilks (VAR)

Baseball is obviously the focus on this blog, and in that regard 1953 represents the oldest Topps year I've ever been able to acquire. Not bad for something that started out with a singular pack of 2018 Topps! Unless, someone trades an older card, this gem from Jim (Cards As I See Them) would become the oldest Topps baseball card in my collection, and 3rd oldest overall.

Trade #109 Chris (The Collector)
Traded 07/27/21: 1967 Topps #266 Pitt Power (Stargell/Clendenon), 1978-79 Topps (basketball) #54 Garfield Heard

Received 07/26/21:
  • 1967 Topps #227 Paul Lindblad
  • 1966 Philadelphia (football) #159 Bobby Joe Conrad (See Trade #118)
  • 1960 Topps (football) #28 Jim Ray Smith (See Trade #287)

Anyone know where Chris (The Collector) went? His blog doesn't exist anymore. Seems like he retired from blogging, which would be unfortunate as he was quite a talented writer. This Athletics card (now from two cities ago!) is all that remains from our July 2021 trade.

Trade #110 Alan (Blog reader)
Traded 07/27/21: 1968 Topps #7 1967 NL ERA Leaders (Niekro/Bunning/Short), 1972 Topps #43 Rick Wise, 1972 Topps #44 Rick Wise (IA), 1972 Topps #163 Tug McGraw, 1973 Topps #322 Garry Maddox (RC)

Received 07/26/21:
  • 1972 Topps #2 Ray Culp (See Trade #124)
  • 1970 Topps #12 John Hiller
  • 1970 Topps #39 Mike Nagy (ASR, RC)
  • 1970 Topps #59 Dick Ellsworth
  • 1967 Topps #7 Don McMahon

To quote the great Yogi Berra: "It's like deja vu all over again!" Last month, a 1970 Topps John Hiller was on the chopping block, and now we have a second copy up again! I still have one more copy of the card in the stack too! In fact, all three of these 1970 Topps cards still have a copy in the trade stack! What are the chances of that?

All these cards will be removed from the Time Travel Trading stack unless offers come in. You know what to do!

  1. I'd be interested in Mr. Lindblad. Let me check my card stash. The oldest Topps card I have isn't much younger than he.

If anybody else wants him, you can give them first priority.

  2. Didn't realize Chris's blog is gone. I see he hasn't logged into TCDB in two months. I imagine this is related to his wife's health situation.

  3. That's a bummer about Chris, he was one of the solid reads in the card blogging world.

  4. Hope everything is okay with Chris and his family. Didn't realize he took down his blog. I hope he brings it back, because he had some really epic series that I'd love to read again some day.
