Repack Haiku #402 (JJ Bleday)

Bleday and teammates
Set to pull off a rare feat
Not seen since Mathews

2023 Topps #205 JJ Bleday (RC)

Hall of Fame 3rd Baseman Eddie Mathew has the rare distinction of playing in 3 cities with a single franchise. He debuted with the Boston Braves in 1952, right before the team moved to Milwaukee. He stayed with the Braves throughout their time there, and was still with the team when they moved again to Atlanta in 1966. With the unusual situation the Athletics franchise is currently in, a good number of A's players, including Bleday, are on track to accomplish this feat as well. Bleday isn't set to become a free agent until 2029, meaning (barring a trade or outright release) he'll likely play for Athletics fans in Oakland, Sacramento, and Las Vegas. It'll be interesting to see exactly how many Athletics players actually do this.

  1. It still saddens me to see the A's out of Oakland.
Bleday quietly had a solid 2024 season.

  2. I hate thinking about the A's in Sacramento and Vegas... but honestly... the idea of collecting players who end up being with them in all three cities is kind of fun.
