Fifth player ever
To hit two extra-inning
Home runs in one game
On May 28, 1987, the Baltimore Orioles' Young hit a game-tying solo home run in the bottom of the 10th inning against the Angels' DeWayne Buice. He tagged Buice again in the bottom of the 12th, hitting a walk off 2-run homer to give the Orioles a 8-7 win.
The sheer number of amazing baseball facts like this one will never cease to amaze me. What a special game for Mr. Young!
ReplyDeleteThat's wild! Game-tying and walk-off must have made him a happy man.
ReplyDeleteA. I'm with Greg. Big fan of these haiku posts, because I always learn interesting baseball trivia.
ReplyDeleteB. Hadn't given Mr. Young much though in over 3 decades... but after reading this post I just remembered that I had a knack for pulling his cards in the 80's.
