Topps, you need to stop. Seriously, just stop.
Hallelujah! Preach it sir! I've been pondering how to search for images of cards like this. It's like an annual ritual (sometimes several times a year) that they have to reprint something. And then the next year they come out with them again like it hasn't happened in years. "Rediscover Topps"? Only if you've lived under a rock for ten years...
ReplyDeleteAsk Night Owl how many times they've used the '52 Jackie Robinson. It's ridiculous. Topps is officially all out of ideas, and without any competition to push them we're gonna get more Mattingly reprints.
ReplyDeleteAt least with a '52 Robinson, I can see why someone might want a reprint because most of us will never own a real one. I can't understand why anyone wants a reprint of a 1980s (or more recent) card. They aren't even baseball cards to me.
DeleteAmen. Topps is just cranking out the useless inserts these days. Greed back by lack of any originality. This is just one of many examples of how they are out of tune with the hobby base.
ReplyDeleteI like the clear ones and the cloth ones.
ReplyDeleteSurprised there's not been a Finest version, with Refractors (the only ones that would seem logical to me in the first place- but I LOVE Refractors)
Oops they missed 2011 and 2015 *Gasp* Yes they need to stop this madness.
ReplyDeleteWe read a lot about the repetition, but it's rare to see them all in one post...wow!
ReplyDeleteSolid take! I completely agree :)
ReplyDeleteGreat post! I'm praying someone over at Topps sees this post (and reads these comments), so they can spread the word that they're ridiculous and some of us are getting tired of their shenanigans.
ReplyDeleteI've found myself thinking the same thing on numerous occasions, but I never realized the extent of it until I saw this post. Great job.
