Tony Phillips struck out against Orel Hershiser for the final out of the 1988 World Series. The next year, he helped the Athletics clinch their World Series title when he fielded Bret Butler's ground ball and threw it to first for the final out of that series.
Shame he didn't stick around for the third year... maybe he would have helped prevent a sweep by the Reds ;D
