In this particular case, I found the family connection on baseball-reference.com. I couldn't find much on Matt either, so I took a gamble with his grandpa!
I actually coach HS baseball with Matt's father (also named Lenny) and Matt is now coaching at Fairfield University, while his son is a HS coach here in Connecticut. The elder Lennie was the oldest living member of the 1945 NL Champion Cubs before he passed away a few years back. Very much the epitome of a "baseball family" if there ever was one.
Didn't know about this family connection!
ReplyDeleteGot the time travel cards - thanks!
Where do you find these fantastic obscure facts? I dont remember Merullo or his cards.
