Repack Haiku #187 (Lenny Dykstra)

Hired men to spy
And get dirt on umpires
Got better strike zone

1989 Fleer Update #U-105 Lenny Dykstra

Man, this guy was a piece of work, wasn't he? He actually admitted to hiring private investigators to get information on umpires that he could use to get a better strike zone and better calls. He did lead the league in walks in 1993 for what it's worth...

    1. It's too bad Dykstra resorted to such measures. He probably didn't have to. Talented dude.

    1. i remember watching a game of the week in 1986 (pretty sure it was 86 - could have even been the postseason) wherein joe garagiola was doing the color commentary and he was complimentary of dykstra except for the fact that he chewed. joe g was, of course, a big opponent of chewing tobacco in baseball.
