Time Travel Trading Update #64

92 new cards!

That's what you have waiting for you below. 7 trades, 92 cards - an onslaught of cardboard that caused so much editing and upkeep I had to take extra time just to be sure all cards were accounted for and my numbers matched. It's worth it though!

On to the trades!

We lead thing off with Time Travel regular Jeff (Wax Pack Wonders) who sent these 4 cards my way:

So, I discovered something funny about that 1970 Topps Tim McCarver card. According to my records, I had one in the Time Travel Trading stack once before. I traded less than a year ago...to Jeff! So Jeff, is this the same card? It'd be funny if it was!

Another monthly regular comes up next, Brendan (The View From The Third Floor) who received and sent a great mix of cards:

Since there was some confusion last month, this is a good opportunity to clarify again: While most of my regular traders prefer to make their claims by commenting on my post, I do a healthy amount of trading on the TCDB as well. Members there can read my blog as soon as it's published from the main page and propose transactions. Potential traders are welcome to reach me either way. I even have some that just email me directly! There's no preferential treatment given to the TCDB members, it all comes down to timing and who put the claim in first. If you claim a card someone claimed already, I'll let you know.

Every year, I buy a pack of the latest Topps base set and add it to the trade stack. The inserts usually go pretty quick but Bo (Baseball Cards Come To Life) will wait a day and claim any leftovers. This was the case this year as well, and it contributed to the largest trade in Time Travel Trading history - 30 cards out, 30 cards in!

Bo tries his best to send cards he thinks other people would want. He noticed that O-Pee-Chee have been doing well recently, and sent some more along:

He also added some more football to the mix!

Next up is a pair from Greg (Night Owl Cards) - a vintage card and a reprint of a vintage card!

The next three trades were all done on the TCDB. First up we have Mark, who sent these 1974 and 1963 beauties my way:

Next we have Canadian J.F., who I helped me complete the 1992 O-Pee-Chee Premier set last year. This is his first Time Travel Trade, and it was a big one!

I hope no one minds more hockey cards added to the stack. It's practically a requirement when you trade with friends north of the border!

Finally, we have Derek, another Canuck who offered up some more great cards!

Including, you guessed it, hockey!

There's been a lot of turnover in the trade stack, so give it a look and see what's still available. I still have 2 more trades I'm waiting on, so stay tuned!

As always, these cards are all available in exchange for an older card. You can claim your cards below, or through the TCDB (Kep75). Let's make some trades!

The Time Travel Trading Project is simple in concept. I started out with a random pack of 2018 Topps Series 1 baseball cards. My aim was to trade every card in that pack for something older. Each card I receive in turn is then made available for trade, with the goal to get the oldest card I can get.

Number of trades completed: 160 (2 pending!)
Unique trading partners: 60

Number of cards mailed out: 704
Year of oldest card mailed out: 1910-11

Number of cards received: 1,050
Year of oldest card received: 1890

  4. Haha yeah it probably was the same card. There was a guy trading autographed cards for Phillies cards, so I grabbed a few as trade bait but never used them.
